“The interaction between the musicians of this band is impressive, perfect. No one who doesn’t feel deeply grateful to the Brubecks is capable of this job. An excellent album.”

– La Habitacion Del Jazz, Madrid

“Dave Brubeck’s music is put through major reimaging here but nothing feels out of place. These interpretations shine with their own sense of logic and beauty.”

– All About Jazz

Blue Rondo a la Turk,” for instance, rides that hypnotic 9/8 tempo before resolving into a 12-bar blues for the solos, where Mark Zaleski’s sax really pushes the envelope.”

– The Patriot Ledger

Sparks can fly from an initial meeting, but true chemistry only comes with time. That’s true in jazz as it is in life, as can be heard by listening to the evolution of the music’s great bands as they grow and evolve over time. Nearly a decade after their debut release, the Mark Zaleski Band returns with the fruits of their own long tenure together. On Days, Months, Years, the quintet (and sometime sextet) reveals the fruits that come from putting in the time, year after year, gig after gig.

“11 years seems ages for a band to work together, but the days, months and years have borne beautiful fruit in this new recording by the inventively evolved bassist (and saxophonist) Mark Zaleski.”

– New York City Jazz Record

“Within his compositions are linear explorations that bring us on a pathway of varied musical surfaces that keep us absorbed throughout the project.”

– WICN Radio, Worcester, MA

“Days, Months, Years is anything but boring. Varied, inviting, unpredictable but never jarring, the only negative thing I could say about Mark Zaleski Band’s latest product is, “what took you guys so long?”

– S. Victor Aaron, Something Else!

The self-titled Mark Zaleski Band album includes music that mixes straight ahead modern jazz with a rock flare. Many of the tracks include non-standard time signatures, but the music is performed in a way that is audience accessible, singable, and danceable. Some classic standard MZB jams are featured on this recording like “The Moon” and “They Told Each Other Sweet Lies and Danced”.

Duet Suite

Mark & Glenn Zaleski

Released: January 2, 2010

A collection of jazz standards connected by four improvisations based on a Glenn Zaleski original tune result in the Duet Suite. Much care was put into the interpretation of each standard melody, and solos are not long-winded. The impressive flow of this record from start to finish makes for a wonderful listening experience that can only be captured by two siblings that have watched each other grow from the very start of it all.
